PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) – An administrator at Johnson & Wales University has been named president of the college’s Providence campus.

Johnson & Wales University announced Tuesday that Dr. Marie Bernardo-Sousa, has been appointed to the office of Providence Campus president.

Bernardo-Sousa has served as the school’s senior vice president of administration and enrollment management since 2014.

Bernardo-Sousa earned her undergraduate degree in marketing from Johnson & Wales before later earning a Masters degree in Human Resources from Emmanuel College and a Doctorate in law and policy from Northeastern University.

“I am inspired by this opportunity to lead the JWU Providence Campus, a community that takes pride in both its educational mission and the character of its faculty and staff and has the courage to embark on bold and ambitious plans,” said President Bernardo-Sousa.

Her appointment to the office of President comes after former Johnson & Wales Providence Campus president Dr. Mim Runey was named Chancellor of the university in October.
