Kingstown Crossing Apartments evacuated due to flooding

NORTH KINGSTOWN, R.I. (WLNE)-The Kingstown Crossing Apartments have been evacuated due to flooding from Thursday morning’s rainstorm.

North Kingstown Fire Chief Scott Kettelle said that 15 residents had to be removed, one of them being in a wheelchair.

Rescue officials on the scene transported residents to safety using row boats.

Some apartments on the first floor had over a foot of water inside, according to Chief Kettelle.

Residents are out in the complex’s parking lot, as management looks to arrange temporary living accommodations.

Four units at Kingstown Crossing were impacted by storm water Thursday morning. All the residents are safe and have been provided hotel accommodation.

No residents or firefighters were injured during the evacuations.
