Langevin Votes to Require Universal Background Checks for Firearm Sales

WASHINGTON-The Bipartisan Background Check Act will keep communities safe by ensuring dangerous people cannot get passed the background check process online or at gun shows. 

Universal background checks are supported by 97% of gun-owning Americans and is the first step in addressing gun violence in America.

Congressman Jim Langevin states “The gun violence epidemic plaguing the nation is a true national emergency, and the past several years of Congressional inaction is reprehensible. I am pleased that the Democratic majority is finally treating gun violence prevention legislation like the urgent priority it is.
