A fire destroyed a home in Bristol late Sunday night.

It happened just before midnight at the two story home on Lugent Lane.

Witnesses tell ABC6 there were three people in the home at the time.

The 22-year-old man heard smoke detectors going off and ran to warn the other two people in the home.

They made it out safely but within minutes, the house was engulfed in flames.

It took the fire department nearly an hour to get the fire under control.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
