Late Night Madness Brings Friartown Back Together
The 2022-23 Providence College Late Night Madness celebration returned to the Amica Mutual Pavilion for the first time as the event since 2019 on Saturday, October 1. The night was packed with dance and cheer performances followed by introductions of the men’s and women’s basketball teams. The AMP was then illuminated by a performance by Khalid.
As the doors opened at 6:00 p.m. fans poured into The Amica Mutual Pavilion. More than 6,500 students, alumni, and family packed the AMP to see the Friars dance and cheer performers, as well as men’s and women’s basketball teams hit the court. The Friar Family cheered along with the cheerleaders and the dance team as they performed. Following student dance performances, the women’s basketball team along with Head Coach Jim Crowley were brought into the lights. After introducing the women’s squad, the men’s basketball team danced onto the floor. Coach Ed Cooley followed his team as he came out of the student section onto the court to address the Friar Family. As the nightly festivities continued, Khalid hit the stage for an exhilarating performance.
The men’s basketball team will open its season with its annual Mal Brown Intra Squad scrimmage on Saturday, October 15 at the AMP at 4 p.m. On Thursday, October 20 at 7:00 p.m., the Friars will hold their first exhibition game versus AIC at the Amica Mutual Pavilion. The women’s basketball team will open its exhibition season on Tuesdat\y, October 25 against Southern New Hampshire in Alumni Hall in Providence, R.I.
