Ledyard Police officer hit by car during traffic stop

LEDYARD, Conn. (WLNE)- A Ledyard Police officer was struck by a passing car during a traffic stop early Saturday morning.

Police say that the officer was in the middle of a DUI arrest at about 2:30 a.m. on Route 2 on the town line of Ledyard and Preston when he was struck by the passing vehicle.

The department says the the officer was not seriously injured and was able to complete his shift.

However, police are still looking to identify the driver of the car, which they say is silver or gray.
