Liberian Man Gets 3 Years for Felon Firearm Possession

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) – A Liberian man faces deportation after being sentenced to just over three years in prison for being a felon in possession of a firearm.

Patrick Johnson, who had previously been convicted of a state drug charge, pleaded guilty to carrying a .38-caliber revolver in his car when he was stopped by Providence police last year.

He was sentenced in federal court on Friday to three years and one month in prison.

He will start his federal sentence after finishing his state prison term in October.

Authorities say Johnson will be referred to Immigration and Customs Enforcement for possible deportation after he finishes his sentence. His hometown was not immediately available from
authorities.
