UPDATE: Lincoln dentist faces additional sexual assault charges
LINCOLN, R.I. (WLNE)- A Lincoln dentist who was arrested and charged with second degree sexual assault yesterday faces additional charges after more alleged victims came forward, police said on Friday.
John Begg, 85, was initially arrested on a charge of second degree sexual assault after a patient complained that he groped her inappropriately during an office visit in August.
Lincoln Police Capt. Philip Gould said the 68-year-old patient was not anesthetized during the alleged incident.
Gould said in a statement that the department is adding at least two additional counts of second degree sexual assault.
According to police, Begg has owned and operated a dental practice at 246 Front St. in Lincoln for several years.
Begg turned himself in to custody after police contacted him on Sept. 10.
He was arraigned and released on personal recognizance.
If anyone has any additional information regarding this case, they are asked to contact Detective Gorman at 401-333-1111.
