PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — The Rhode Island Attorney General’s Office said Monday a Lincoln man accused of assaulting a child several times in North Providence has been indicted.

Attorney General Peter Neronha said Jason Almeida was charged with one count of second-degree child abuse.

Almeida, who’s 41 years old, assaulted the child between May 7, 2021, and May 23, 2022, said Neronha. He surrendered himself to North Providence police in June of last year.

The 41-year-old is scheduled to appear in Providence Superior Court next month for this case.

Neronha said Almeida is also facing charges for child abuse in a separate case out of Lincoln that’s pending in Providence Superior Court.
