Lindblad Hat Trick and 2 Assists as P-Bruins Skate Past Wolf Pack

Hartford, CT – The Providence Bruins defeated the Hartford Wolf Pack 6-4 Friday evening. Justin Florek, Seth Griffith, Joe Morrow, Alexander Khokhlachev, Anthony Camara and Matt Lindblad each scored for the P-Bruins, while Niklas Svedberg made 26 saves in the victory.
Providence took an early 1-0 lead when Florek scored his 11th goal of the season at the 4:18 mark of the opening period. Lindblad made a backhand pass to Florek in the slot to beat Grumet-Morris. David Warsofsky had the second assist.
A few minutes later, at the 8:18 mark, the P-Bruins caused a turnover when Matt Fraser stole the puck at the Providence blue line and passed it to Griffith who went down the right wing to score glove side, unassisted, his tenth goal of the season. The P-Bruins finished off the scoring with a power play goal at the 18:32 mark when Morrow hit the top right corner of the net for his fifth goal of the season. Nick Johnson and Craig Cunningham picked up the assists as Providence led 3-0 going into the first intermission.
The P-Bruins did not slow down in the second period, picking up their second power play goal of the game at the 2:57 mark. Warsofsky sent a slapper from the blue line and Grumet-Morris made the initial save but Khokhlachev buried a rebound glove side, for his tenth goal of the season. Griffith had the second assist.
Camara extended the lead to 5-0 at the 6:45 mark, tallying his seventh goal of the season with the lone assist going to Chris Casto. Hartford finally got on the board 38 seconds later when TJ Hensick netted his third goal of the season, with Brendon Nash and Brett Stamler recording the assists.
Providence continued to battle and made it 6-1 at the 10:32 mark, when Lindblad came into the zone with speed down the left side and scored blocker side, his sixth goal of the season. Griffith had the only assist on the goal as the P-Bruins led 6-1 going into the second intermission.
Hartford battled back in the third period, but ended up falling short. Jesper Fast scored on the power play at the 9:45 mark to make it 6-2. It was his ninth goal of the season with Danny Syvret and Oscar Lindberg getting the assists.
Less than two minutes later at the 11:42 mark, Lindberg beat Svedberg on a wraparound goal to cut the lead in half. It was his 11th goal of the season, while Tommy Hughes and Micheal Haley grabbed the assists.
Hartford pulled within two goals at the 16:14 mark when Lindberg scored his second goal of the game and 12th goal of the season with Fast getting the lone assist. Providence shutdown the Wolf Pack for the last few minutes of the game and held on for the 6-4 victory.
Svedberg stopped 26 of 30 shots for the P-Bruins, while Dov Grumet-Morris made 15 saves and David LeNeveu made 12 saves for the Wolf Pack. The P-Bruins were 2-for-4 on the power play and 3-for-4 on the penalty kill.
The P-Bruins continue a five game road trip Saturday against the Worcester Sharks at 7:00pm. Providence returns to the Dunkin' Donuts Center on Sunday, February 9 at 3:05pm against the Springfield Falcons.
