PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — Surv Rhode Island, an organization that does simple jobs for homeowners in need, will be teaming up with Santa to spread holiday cheer to seniors this year.

Pat Brown, CEO of Surv, said a quarter of Rhode Island residents are over the age of 60, and many need help at home more than physical gifts.

Surv connects local workers with community service projects.

The group said things like moving furniture or putting up Christmas trees can be major health risks for seniors trying to age at home.

Surv will be supporting those in need by passing out gift cards to help pay for any needed help around their homes.

This is the first year the group will be celebrating Christmas, but has been delivering flowers to mothers on Mother’s Day for over 10 years.

Brown said, “Generally seniors love it, especially the ones on fixed incomes that need an extra hand for an affordable price. Especially with inflation — this will be a great present to those in need [of help] with small odd jobs around the home.”

Surv will be driving through Providence, the East Bay and South County areas of Rhode Island, spreading holiday cheer on Dec. 19, 21 and 23.

Those in need of assistance with household work can learn more about Surv at their membership page.
