Local farmers struggling to beat the heat
More than half the nation is suffering from the worst drought in fifty years.
Among those feeling the effects are farmers right here in Rhode island.
VInny Confreda has been a commercial farmer for most of his adult life. Vinny owns Confreda farms in hope..he's seen plenty of droughts in his lifetime-but this one's a little different, he says,
“It started a little earlier, we've had a very dry winter, we haven't had the much rain.”we've been actually irrigating, we're actually irrigating three farms right now, we're just about managing to keeps up with it , but its almost like another full time job.In spite of the challenges of the drought , Confreda says he will stay the course. and keep looking to the skies for rain.
