PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — Members of the local Red Cross chapter are being deployed both virtually and physically to assist with the California wildfires and in advance of tropical storms Laura and Marco in Texas.

Henry Lesieur a volunteer will be virtually deploying to Texas to support the Red Cross team there ahead of two tropical systems set to effect the area.

Christine Whipple will physically be deploying to California in response to the horrific wildfires affecting that state.

The Red Cross recommends that people in the path of these storms to check their emergency kits and prepare now.

Volunteers for the Red Cross in California are providing assistance to tens of thousands of people who have been forced out of their homes as wildfires continue to rage.
