Local pet store helping new pet parents after surge in ownership during pandemic

BARRINGTON, R.I (WLNE) – To aid with the growth of pet ownership, partially fueled by the pandemic, a local pet store is doubling its brick and mortar footprint and hosting an event for new pet parents.

As people return to the post-pandemic workforce, there is a significant impact on pets adopted at the onset of the pandemic, especially for puppies.

Those puppies are now at least a year old – and owners have to think about leaving them alone, or in some cases, giving them up for adoption.

On Saturday, June 6 Rumford Pet Express will kick-off the grand opening of its new facilities.

This grand opening will also include special post-pandemic adoptions and training tips for new owners.

The ribbon-cutting is at 9:00 a.m, and the pet adoption/training event kicks off at 10:00 a.m at the Rumford Pet Express in Barrington.
