LOMBARDI: Possible Police Policy Violation by PPD

According to Providence City Councilman and mayoral candidate John Lombardi, the Providence Police Department may have violated the city's police policy manual.

Lombardi inquired with police chief Colonel Dean Esserman as to whether a political candidate had attended and participated in police roll calls at local substations.

Lombardi is requesting a copy of “the department's procedures and policies pertaining to the use of City resources in the endorsement promotion of political candidates.”

Cited in the Lombardi press release was 2010 executive order issued by Providence Mayor David Cicilline, which re enforced Providence's stance toward use of city resources toward political activity.
