BOSTON, M.A. (WLNE) – Despite the decline in hospitalizations for the sixth day in a row, the state of Massachusetts reports an additional 130 coronavirus deaths Saturday.

A total of 3,846 people have died from the virus. Additionally, 1,952 cases were reported, bringing the state’s total confirmed cases to 66,263 since the pandemic began.

Saturday’s reported 3,601 hospitalizations is down from the 3,716 on Friday.

Last Tuesday, Governor Charlie Baker extended the stay-at-home advisory for the state until May 18. That order implements all Massachusetts residents except for employees of essential businesses to stay at home. This excludes outdoor exercise and trips to get necessary items.

Schools in Massachusetts will remain closed for the remainder of the academic year.

Gov. Baker continues to ask all residents of Massachusetts to do their part in social distancing to fight the virus.
