Macaw missing from Roger Williams Zoo found in Cranston neighborhood

CRANSTON, R.I. (WLNE) — A macaw that was reported missing from the Roger Williams Zoo was found on a powerline in Cranston.

Julia Bedard, a Cranston resident told ABC 6 News that the bird showed up on a powerline in her neighborhood on Norman Avenue around 2 p.m., on Wednesday.

Bedard shared a TikTok video where the bird can be seen perched atop a power line.

She said she called officials at the Roger Williams Zoo who showed up to collect the macaw 15 minutes later.

Staffers from the zoo can be heard in the video shared by Bedard, telling her the birds were likely blown past the spots they’re used to flying over.

Two more macaws are reported missing from the Zoo. No further information was available regarding the location of the other two birds.
