FALL RIVER, Mass. (WLNE) — The Bristol County District Attorney said Tuesday that a Brockton man was convicted of sexually assaulting his pre-teen relative and her best friend in Fall River.

District Attorney Thomas Quinn said Osvaldo Otero, who’s 60 years old, was convicted of three counts of rape of a child-aggravated by age difference.

Otero has a criminal record spanning 40 years, containing a variety of charges, including robbery, drug crimes and other violent crimes, said Quinn.

Otero was already serving a 25 to 30 year sentence from those charges in Plymouth County.

In the Fall River case, the suspect was sentenced to serve an additional 10 to 15 years.

Quinn said the assault on the relative and her best friend, who was 12 years old, happened from 2010 to 2014.

The district attorney said the victims, who are now in their 20s, were pleased with the conviction and consecutive prison sentence.
