Man arrested after domestic dispute in Warwick

Warwick police arrest a man following a domestic dispute Saturday afternoon.

28 year old Mathew Washington was arrested for Domestic Assault and Disorderly Conduct after assaulting his boyfriend at 28 Unity Court at 12:37 p.m.

Officials say Washington allegedly assaulted his boyfriend and locked himself in his home with four dogs. Two dogs were described to be vicious. The SWAT team and a negotiator were able to talk him out of the home. He surrendered around 4 p.m. and no injuries were reported.

He was suspected of being under the influence of drugs and may have had two folding knives.

Washington was taken to Kent Hospital for evaluation. He will likely be arraigned by a bail commission and be formally arraigned in court at a later date that was not immediately available.
