Man arrested after reportedly breaking into Honey Dew Donuts in New Bedford

NEW BEDFORD, Mass. (WLNE) — The New Bedford Police Department said they arrested a man in connection to a breaking-and-entering at a Honey Dew Donuts in the city.

According to police, Monday night at approximately 11 p.m., they were dispatched to the donut shop on Conway Street for an alarm activation.

Police said the alarm was tripped from a break into the drive-through window. First responders immediately located someone attempting to enter the business.

Officials said the suspect’s face was covered and they attempted to flee the scene after noticing officers arriving.

After a brief foot-pursuit, police said the suspect was identified and taken into custody.

Police said 23-year-old Dominick Santo Ferreira was arrested and charged with breaking and entering in the nighttime with intent to commit a felony, as well as two charges of felony damage to property.

No further information was immediately released.
