CRANSTON, R.I. (WLNE) — Police are investigating a crash that occurred on Pontiac Avenue early in the morning Sunday.

At approximately 1:34 a.m. officers responded to a head on collision at 301 Pontiac Ave. where one driver attempted to flee the scene, Major Todd Patalano said.

The other driver suffered a broken leg as a result of the accident, he added.

Christopher Blair, 49, of Cranston was arrested and charged with leaving the scene of an accident resulting in personal injury.

The department believes that speed was a factor in the accident, and photos and video surveillance were obtained at the scene, Patalano said.

This is a developing story and will be updated as information becomes available.
