Prov. Hit-and-Run Arrest Made
Providence Police have arrested a man in connection with a hit-and-run accident that happened in Providence early Sunday morning.
Police charged Andy Pineda, 20, of Central Falls, with operating without a license and failure of duty to stop when in an accident after Pawtucket Police apprehended him on Lonsdale Avenue in Pawtucket.
Pineda, police say, had fled there after hitting another car near Thurbers Avenue and Eddy Street in Providence. Two women were inside, both transported to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Police had no word on their condition, but officials did say it was likely that Pineda took off after the accident because he did not have a valid driver license.
Pineda was arraigned Sunday.
