Manville man arrested for string of vehicle break-ins

LINCOLN, R.I. (WLNE) – A man was arrested in Lincoln Monday night for receiving stolen goods and larceny under $1,500.

Christian Torres, 31, of Manville, was arrested after Lincoln Police received calls stating that a man entered a car in a driveway on Carriage Drive.

The caller stated that Torres tried to enter other cars in the driveway until he found an unlocked one.

After looking around inside the car, Torres walked away from the scene.

Police later found Torres entering a second vehicle on Westwood Road.

Torres was found to be in possession of money from the Carriage Drive larceny as well as a stolen credit card.

The credit card had been reported as stolen from a car parked in Manville on August 6th.

Torres was arrested at approximately 8:30 p.m. Monday and appeared in 3rd District Court Tuesday morning.

Lincoln Police are urging residents to make sure they lock the doors of their vehicles as well as report suspicious activity when they see it.
