Man bites off portion of brother’s ear in brawl

Pawtucket Police have arrested a man after he bit a chunk of his brother’s ear off in a drunken brawl Monday.

Melvin S. Gboe, 35, of Pawtucket allegedly attacked his brother Patrick Gboe, 27, after Patrick complained that Melvin drank all of their alcohol.

The argument escalated into a physical fight in which Melvin bit off about half of Patrick’s ear. Police say that both men were intoxicated during the altercation.

Patrick was taken to Memorial Hospital along with his severed ear.

Melvin was charged with domestic felony assault, mutilation, resisting arrest, and misdemeanor domestic assault.

Melvin was arraigned in Sixth Division Court on Tuesday and released on personal recognizance. He is ordered no contact with his brother until the next court hearing in December.
