Man charged with child molestation after fathering 13-year-old’s baby

A Woonsocket man is charged with two counts of first degree child molestation after police say he raped a 13-year-old girl.

Jesus Ruiz, 23, was arrested after doctors at Women and Infants Hospital notified police that the teen had given birth to a baby girl.

After questioning, the teen eventually admitted that she and her mother’s boyfriend, Ruiz, had sex, and that he was the baby’s father.

Police say the teen referred to Ruiz as her stepfather and said he had been in her life for eight years, considered a father figure.

Ruiz is held without bail on the child molestation charges.
