Three charged in connection to New Bedford homicide

Three individuals have been charged in connection to the death of a man that was shot on New Year’s Eve in New Bedford.

25-year-old Chad Santos, 24-year-old Kathleen Rivera, and 21-year-old Lorena Rivera, all of New Bedford, were each charged with obstruction of justice in connection to the death of 24-year-old Aaron Gant Jr., also of New Bedford.

All three were arrested after being questioned by investigators Wednesday night.

Santos was held on $100,000 cash bail and Kathleen Rivera on $1,000 cash bail. If Rivera posts bail, she will be places on GPS monitoring. Lorena Rivera was held without bail overnight for her arraignment Friday.

The shooting happened at approximately 7:10 p.m. on Grinnell Street near the intersection of Pleasant Street.

The District Attorney’s Office says the investigations remains extremely active and ongoing.
