Man Falls into Sea in Narragansett, Search Underway

A Massachusetts man was swept out to sea Sunday, near Hazard Rock in Narragansett.

The 25 year-old man jumped into the water to try and rescue 3 other people that were swept into the waters off of Hazard Rock. The other 3 people have been pulled from the water.  Their conditions are unknown at this time.

The man was wearing long pants, a blue shirt, and has long black hair.

Coast Guard boats, a Jayhawk helicopter, and the DEM are assisting Narragansett.  The Coast Guard reports 2-3 foot seas in the area but ABC6 Stormtracker Meteorologist Steve Cascione warned this morning that Hurricane Danielle – although now veering away from the US – could produce strong waves and rip currents along RI beaches.

UPDATE:

As of 6:30 p.m. rescue divers were cleared from the water and will resume the search Monday morning at 7 a.m.
