A man is in critical condition after being pulled out of his submerged pick-up truck off a Fairhaven causeway Wednesday.

Police say the operator, a 61-year-old David Cardin, of West Island, drove off Goulart Memorial Drive and landed upside down in seven feet of water.

Rescue crews were called to the scene around 3 p.m. and were able to pull the man out of the submerged truck. They are not sure how long he was stuck in the 39 degree water. He was taken to St. Luke’s Hospital in critical condition.

No one else was injured in the accident.
