Man indicted on 14 simple, sexual assault charges

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — A statewide grand jury returned an indictment on April 24, charging a man with a total of 14 counts including sexual assault, simple assault and vandalism.

According to court documents, 32-year-old Nickolas Keeney, of Cranston, faces the following charges:

  • Three counts of first-degree sexual assault
  • Nine counts of domestic simple assault
  • One count of domestic vandalism
  • One count of domestic felony assault

Officials said the alleged actions took place in Newport sometime on Dec. 6, last year. Newport police conducted the investigation.

Keeney is expected to be arraigned on May 18 in Newport County Superiors Court.
