Man killed in fatal crash in Freetown identified

FREETOWN, Mass. (WLNE) – Massachusetts State Police are investigating a single car crash on Route 24 North that left one man dead.

State police says they responded to the scene which was just north of Exit 10 around 7:45 p.m. Tuesday.

When first responders arrived on scene they found David Goncalo, 49, of Fall River, Mass.,  dead in the car behind the wheel. He was the only person in the car, police say. 

Police say early information shows the car was traveling northbound when suddenly it went off-road and crashed into a tree killing the driver upon impact. 

State police say the facts and circumstances surrounding the crash are under investigation.

The driver’s name has not been released yet by police.
