Man on bike hit by van, witnesses say

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) – A man driving a van hit a biker in Providence on Tuesday, witnesses tell ABC6 News.

According to witnesses, the accident happened near the intersection of Harold and Valley streets around noon.

Neighbors tell ABC6 the area is known for drivers ignoring traffic enforcement laws.

“[The accident is] honestly not surprising, the way people drive up and down this road there’s never really any slow drivers,” neighbor Don Clark said. “They barely stop at the stop signs and can be scary being a pedestrian in this neighborhood.”

Witnesses say the older man on the bike appeared to be injured, but it didn’t look like life-threatening injuries.

ABC6 reached out to Providence police to see if there would be more traffic enforcement in the neighborhood following this accident; but, haven’t yet received a response.
