Man reports armed robbery near Providence VA hospital

A 20-year-old man told police Thursday night he was mugged at gun point on River Avenue near the Veterans Affairs Medical Center.

The victim says a little after 9:00 p.m. he was grabbed from behind by two men, one of them put a gun to his back, near the intersection of Regent Avenue. The suspects went through the victim’s pockets, took money from his wallet and fled on foot.

The victim told police they took between $250- $300 cash.

The suspects are described as two black males, wearing blue jeans, one having a green jacket and the other having a dark-colored hooded sweatshirt.

The victim did not need medical attention.
