Man shot in the chest in Pawtucket, tries to drive himself to the hospital
PAWTUCKET, R.I. (WLNE) — Pawtucket police say a man tried to drive himself to the hospital after being shot in the chest on Tuesday night.
Officers were called to a report of shots fired just after 11 p.m. on Kenyon Avenue and found several shell casings at the scene.
Rhode Island State Police then came across a disabled vehicle on Interstate 95 south. The vehicle was stopped on the exit 41 ramp near the Hampton Inn.
Detectives connected the vehicle to the shooting.
An ABC 6 News crew on scene saw the vehicle had been hit by a bullet.
Police say the driver, a 27-year-old man, suffered a gunshot wound to the chest and was trying to drive himself to the hospital.
He was rushed to Rhode Island Hospital where he is in stable condition. His name was not released.
No arrests were made.
The shooting is under investigation.
