Man stabbed by panhandler in Providence

A man was stabbed after refusing to give a panhandler money in Providence Sunday morning.

Police tell ABC 6 Ralph Jennings, 51, says he was stabbed after refusing to give a panhandler money on Adelaide Avenue near Elmwood Avenue after 2 a.m. on June 21st.

The stranger approached him while walking and asked for money. When Jennings told him he didn’t have money the panhandler pushed him.

He realized he was stabbed after feeling something wet on his back. He turned around and the suspect stabbed him in the arm.

The victim hit the suspect in the face and the suspect took off.

Jennings was transported to Rhode Island Hospital and his condition is unknown.

No arrests have been made.
