Man stabbed on Messer Street early Sunday morning

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) – Providence police were called to Messer Street for a report of a stabbing Sunday morning, just before 1 a.m.

When officers arrived, they found 24-year-old Oscar De Leon who was suffering from a severe stab wound to his right forearm area.

Through the assistance of a translator, police learned that De Leon had attended a party at 227 Messer Street,.  During te party, a white vehicle with three unidentified Hispanic men arrived on scene. De Leon said two of the men left the car and approached De Leon.

One of the men sated that he was an MS-13 gang member, before pulling out a knife and stabbing De Leon in his right arm.

The men went back into the white sedan, which fled towards Cranston Street.

Police were approached by two witnesses who had been in attendance and observed the incident.

De Leon was transported to Roger Williams Hospital by Providence Rescue 6.

According to Commander Thomas Verdi, a suspect has not yet been apprehended, and De Leon is in stable condition.

This incident is currently under investigation.
