Man stabbed, seriously injured in Providence

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) – A man was fighting for his life after being stabbed in Providence on Sunday night, according to Providence police.

Police told ABC6 News that he was found with life-threatening injuries on Pennsylvania Avenue around 7:30 p.m.

As of about 9 p.m., the man was in surgery, police said.

The man was taken to Rhode Island Hospital by ambulance.

A portion of the roadway was blocked off by crime scene tape, and there were evidence markers on the ground around 8 p.m.

Police are looking for a suspect.
