Man wanted for armed robbery in Cranston

Cranston Police have identified the suspect wanted for an armed
convenience store robbery.

Montrell Hopper, 19, of Providence, is wanted for two counts of 1st
degree robbery, two counts of using a firearm while committing a crime of
violence and license required to carry a pistol.

He is accused of robbing the Ocean State Market on Dyer Avenue on
Tuesday afternoon.

Hopper reportedly walked into the store with a black gun,
jumped over the counter and stole cigarettes, a laptop, and cash. He also
tried, unsuccessfully, to steal a customer's cell phone.

He was seen leaving the store and running toward Farmington Avenue,
but witnesses lost sight of him going behind a house at the corner of Farmington and Dyer
Avenues.

No one was injured in the incident.

Hopper is described as a black male, approximately 5'8″
tall with a thin build, and was wearing blue jeans, a blue hooded sweatshirt and a mask
to cover his face.  He was also carrying
a red sling pack.

Surveillance footage helped detectives to identify Hopper,
who is also wanted by Providence Police on 1st degree robbery
charges. He is considered armed and dangerous, and anyone with information
regarding his whereabouts Is asked to call Cranston Police
