Police have arrested the suspect wanted in a shooting that occurred last Friday in Providence.
44-year-old "Tito" Ernesto Vargas was taken into custody Thursday morning.
Vargas is accused of shooting and critically injuring 30-year-old Adrian Aponte in the driveway next to 41 Health Avenue.
"The suspect [Vargas] fired multiple rounds, striking our victim several times," said Deputy Chief Thomas Oates.
Police say an ongoing feud between the two prompted the shooting.
"We believe they know each other, but what that relationship is, at this point, I’m not sure," said Deputy Oates.
In August, Aponte was charged with firing shots during a a fight with another man at his
home, and was out on bail when he was shot by Vargas. Aponte was expected to survive his injuries.
Vargas is charged with felony assault with a firearm, possession of a firearm after being convicted of a violent crime, possession of a firearm while committing a crime of violence, and possession of a firearm without a license.
