Man Stabbed in Face Arrested by Cranston Police

CRANSTON, R.I. (WLNE) – Cranston Police have arrested 34-year-old Robert Burley of Broad Street after an investigation into a domestic stabbing in Cranston, RI.

Cranston PD was contacted at approximately 1:33 AM on May 9, 2017 after Burley entered Speedway Gas Station on Post Road in Warwick with a stab wound to his face.

Police indicate that Burley was bleeding due to being stabbed by his girlfriend at their home earlier in the evening.

Cranston Detectives later released that based on their investigations, Burley was the “primary aggressor … and the female was victim to a felony assault.”

The victim allegedly acted in self defense by utilizing an edged weapon to protect herself prior to fleeing from the apartment.

The victim was treated at Rhode Island Hospital for non-life threatening injuries and will not face criminal charges.

Burley will be arraigned at Rhode Island Hospital for Domestic Strangulation and Domestic Vandalism.  

Police also noted that Burley will also be arraigned as a fugitive from the State of Pennsylvania for a parole violation warrant stemming from a DUI charge.
