Providence Police apprehended a man with a hand gun on Sunday after receiving a tip from the head of that State Police.

State Police Superintendent Steven O'Donnell tipped off Providence police to a man with a firearm standing near a vehicle at the 7-11 on Smith Street.

O'Donnell described the man and vehicle to dispatch. Providence Police Officers Brian Auclair, Stephen Frechette, and Daniel Sirignano located the suspect identified as 43-year-old Troy Antley on Jewett Street. Auclair blocked the vehicle and Antley fled on foot.

Police pursued Antley and apprehended him after a brief struggle. Two of the officers were injured and treated at Roger Williams Medical Center.

Inside Antley's vehicle police discovered a .45 caliber handgun and an open alcohol container.

Antley was arraigned Monday morning and charged as a bail violator Monday afternoon.
