Man, woman stabbed in Dartmouth motel, police say

DARTMOUTH, Mass. (WLNE) — A man and a woman were stabbed Monday night in a Dartmouth motel, according to authorities.

The stabbing happened just after 9 p.m. at the Dartmouth Motor Inn.

Det. Kyle Costa said Tuesday that a 63-year-old New Bedford man was stabbed in the face during an altercation with Tory Carter, 33.

While investigating, Costa said a 37-year-old Southbridge woman was also allegedly stabbed by Carter.

Both victims were taken to St. Luke’s Hospital in New Bedford with non-life-threatening injuries.

Carter, who’s from New Bedford, was arrested and charged with the following:

  • Assault and battery with a dangerous weapon causing bodily injury
  • Assault and battery on a household member
  • Assault and battery with a dangerous weapon on a person over 60
  • Assault and battery on a disabled person over 60, causing serious injury
