Manatee Found with ‘Trump’ on its Back
Federal Investigators Looking for Person Responsible
HOMOSASSA SPRINGS, F.L. (WLNE) – Wildlife officials are investigating after a manatee was found with the word “Trump” on its back.
The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service along with the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission say the mammal was spotted over the weekend in Citrus County by a boat captain who took pictures.
Officials say the word appears to have been written in algae and the animal was not seriously harmed.
A nonprofit grout that protects endangered animals is offering a $5,000 reward for information leading to a conviction in this case.
Because the manatee is an endangered species, harassing one is a federal crime. It’s punishable by a $50,000 fine.
