Search for missing man off East Matunuck suspended

SOUTH KINGSTOWN, R.I (WLNE) – Marine units suspended the search for a missing man and notified his next of kind Thursday afternoon, after searching for 13 hours.

Multiple fire department marine units were looking for a man who went missing Sunday night off East Matunuck State Beach.

Cranston Marine Unit 2, along with East Providence, Newport, and Narragansett searched off 950 Succotash Road.

At this time the identity of the man, and if he entered the water at all is not known.

According to the Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management (RIDEM), there is not official confirmation that the man entered the water.

Friends and family of the man had not heard from him since his car was discovered in the parking lot on Monday morning.
