Marion man arrested after neglecting pitbull

Marion Man Animal Abuse

MARION, Mass. (WLNE)- The Marion Police Department announced on Friday that they have arrested and charged a man with animal cruelty.

Brandon Davis is facing charges of animal cruelty as well as possession of ammunition without a License to Carry.

Police say that they received a report about Davis’ treatment of his pitbull on Wednesday. The report stated that Davis kept his dog in a cage for most of the day, only letting her out to go outside to go to the bathroom.

According to the report, the cage was very unsanitary and the dog was malnourished.

An animal control officer went to the home on Wednesday to try and talk to Davis about the complaint. Police say that it seemed as if no one was home to speak, but the officer did see a dead chicken on the front lawn.

Police obtained a search warrant on Thursday and later executed the search.

During the search they found the pitbull in the cage as described in the report. She was emaciated and had blood on her tail. Police say that the cage contained dirty rags, dried food, empty water bowls, and animal waste.

Officers also found ammunition in Davis’ home.

Animal control took the dog to Cape Cod Veterinary Specialists where it is receiving treatment. She is expected to make a full recovery with the appropriate treatment and rehabilitation.

Davis was arrested at his home and was released on $340 bail. He will be arraigned Friday in Wareham District Court.
