A historic day for the Mashpee Wampanoag Indian Tribe in Massachusetts.

The tribe got word Friday from the Bureau of Indian Affairs that they received approval of their land-in-trust application.

170 acres of land in Mashpee and about 150 acres of land in Taunton will now be held in federal trust for the benefit of the tribe.

The approval also clears the way for the tribe to build a casino on their ancestral lands in Taunton.
