A Massachusetts man has died after his body was found in the water along the shoreline of Beavertail State Park in Jamestown.

Police say they were contacted Wednesday night by the Westford, MA Police Department that a resident from their town was overdue and was believed to be fishing in Rhode Island.

Police located the vehicle of 55-year-old Chin Liao parked in Beavertail State Park.

A search began and Liao’s body was recovered from the heavy surf along the eastern shoreline of Beavertail around 8:30 a.m. Thursday.

Police say at this time there appears to be no foul play.

The death is under investigation by both Jamestown Police and RI DEM Police.
