Mass. State Police hope to solve cold cases with playing card deck
BOSTON, MASS. (WLNE)- Massachusetts State Police announced Wednesday that they created a deck of playing cards to help solve cold cases, and secure justice for victims of these violent crimes.
State Police created the ‘Unresolved Homicide Playing Card deck’ in partnership with the Massachusetts Department of Correction, Massachusetts District Attorney’s Officers, and law enforcement agencies statewide.
Each card in the deck features the victim of an unresolved homicides or other serious violent crimes.
“The victims in this deck were someone’s mother, father, sister, brother, wife, husband, child, or partner. Much time may have passed since the crime that took them from their loved ones, but they, and the victims of all our unresolved cases, are not forgotten,” says police.
“Our detectives and forensic specialists across the state work daily to solve cases like these. Often, after years of dedicated work by investigators, we find that we just need a little more information to solve the case. We hope these cards, when viewed, prompt an influx of that information,” continued officials.
The cards contain an image of each victim, their name, and relevant information.
Police say that these cards are being distributed to inmates in state prisons and members of the public, hoping that this will motivate people to share any information they may have.
To submit information regarding these unresolved cases, people can call toll-free 1-855-MA-SOLVE, email firstname.lastname@example.org, or send a letter to the Unresolved Cases Unit at 470 Worcester Road, Framingham MA 01702.
