Mass. State trooper killed after cruiser struck by oil tanker in Stoneham

STONEHAM, MASS. (WLNE)- Massachusetts State Police have confirmed that a trooper was killed after being struck by a tanker truck on I-93 in Stoneham.

Crews responded to the crash just before midnight on I-93 northbound near exit 27.

“The association is devastated by the line of duty death of Trooper Tamar Bucci,” said State Police, in a briefing following the crash.

Tamar Bucci, 34, was stationed at the Medford Barracks and was on the department for two years.

According to State Police, initial investigation shows that Bucci went to assists a disabled vehicle in the breakdown lane when her cruiser was struck by the fully-loaded oil tanker.

Emergency first-aid was given on scene, and Bucci was transported to Massachusetts General Hospital.

Trooper Bucci was pronounced dead at the hospital.

The investigation remains ongoing.
