Massachusetts boat hooks over 1000 pound tuna

PROVINCETOWN, MASSACHUSETTS (WLNE) – Three friends from Massachusetts have video documentation of their capture of “the beast”, an over 1000 pound tuna.

Captain Dan Smith and his crew, Kyle Falle and Jim McCormack on board the “Julia Nicole” hooked on to the large fish just a mile off Provincetown.

At first, they thought it was a shark.

That was until they saw it on the surface a half-hour into the fight.

“Once we actually got eyes on it, it looked like a surfboard going across the water. It was huge,” said Falle.

Captain Dan Smith said everybody on the boat was in awe at the size of the fish.

Although the fish may eventually end up on dinner plates overseas, the story of friends that landed a fish that weighed more than all of the combined is going to be tough to beat at any local dock.
