Massachusetts jet-skier remains missing after second day of searching

NORTHAMPTON, Mass. (WLNE) — Massachusetts State Police, environmental police and local public safety agencies are continuing their search for a person missing after their jet-ski crashed into a boat.

Just after 6 p.m. on Monday, police said they concluded the search with negative results.

Officials said the search will resume on Tuesday.

Police said the accident happened on Sunday on the Connecticut River in Northampton roughly around 7 p.m.

The jet-skier is believed to be a 51-year-old man but police said final confirmation has yet to be made.

Two people on the boat were rescued by environmental police and were later taken to a hospital in Springfield, officials said.

The search went until midnight on Sunday and teams returned to the area with sonar equipment to detect any anomalies under the water.

No further information was immediately available.

This is a developing story and will be updated as information is released.
